I've been a Transportation/Civil Engineer for nearly 20-years. I work at Toole Design Group in Silver Spring, MD where I focus my attention on making streets safer for pedestrians, bicyclist, transit riders, and motorists. I have a diverse engineering background having designed streetscapes, signalized intersections, roundabouts, bridge replacements, and all the things that go along with that (including stormwater management and green streets, guardrail design, pavement design, pavement markings and signing, project permitting, and construction oversight). I've contributed to major publications, including the FHWA Achieving Multimodal Networks: Applying Design Flexibility and Reducing Conflicts, the Massachusetts DOT Separated Bike Lane Planning & Design Guide, and the forthcoming update to the AASHTO Guide for the Development of Bicycle Facilities.
Outside of the office, I serve as the Secretary for the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP). I'm also an active American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) member, serving on the Policy Committee for the national Committee on Sustainability, and have served as the ASCE Philadelphia Section webmaster, Philadelphia Younger Member Forum (YMF) president, and as the Eastern Geographic Member for the Committee on Younger Members (CYM).
